Militiamen smirk as they move on the rear of a transport truck, speeding past a row of several dead bodies and driving facing the sinking Sudanese sun.

"Look at this extensive effort. See this instance of genocide," one exclaims.

The individual smiles as he directs the recording device on his own face and his associate militiamen, their paramilitary badges visible: "These people shall all die like this."

These individuals are celebrating a atrocity that humanitarian officials fear resulted in the deaths of over thousands of people in the Sudanese city of el-Fasher during October.

A Community Severed from the Outside

After maintaining the city under encirclement for approximately two years, from August the RSF advanced to reinforce its control and prevent access for the remaining residents.
