Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Bahrain, as Iran launched strikes throughout the Middle East in response for a "massive" and ongoing attack targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity in the area of the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any impact is not yet known and the United States has not commented.

Missile Defenses Activated

In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to American military installations - stated they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their territorial skies.

In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry said it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was striking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on Iran initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.

That initial attack - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on areas linked to the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump encouraging the Iranian people to revolt against the regime.

Wider Impacts

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE announced that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems responded to the projectiles with great effectiveness and destroyed a several projectiles," it added.

It said missile fragments landed in a populated district in the capital, resulting in some material damage and fatalities.

The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
