Devoted followers of Ariana Grande are urging that a person who jumped a fence and grabbed the performer during Thursday's Wicked: For Good debut be taken into custody or expelled from Singapore.

A viral video reveals the person identified as Johnson Wen shoving aside media personnel and charging at Grande while the cast proceeded down a event pathway surrounded by onlookers.

Co-star Cynthia Erivo immediately wrested the shocked star away from Mr Wen, who was seen being escorted out of the gathering by security officers.

Mr Wen posted on Instagram recently that he was "released after being taken in", though court documents revealed that he was scheduled to appear on the following morning. It is unknown if he was faced legal action.

Pattern of Incidents

This is not the first time for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Controversial Figure", has crashed a performance. His Instagram feed includes clips of him disturbing other celebrity events, including breaching the performance area at the artist's Sydney performance in recently and in a similar way during The Chainsmokers performance in the area last year.

"Steps should be implemented taken against him as this is evidently a punishable act," wrote an Instagram follower, in a reply to a video Mr Wen posted of his actions.

"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" a different Instagram user remarked.

Supporters Express Concern Over the Star's Past Trauma

Numerous fans accused Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had discussed dealing with trauma-related anxiety after a suicide bomb attack at the conclusion of her May 2017 performance in Manchester, killing 22 people and harming numerous individuals.

"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" said another comment on Instagram.

Some supporters also criticised security officers at the Thursday event for not being sufficiently alert; while different individuals requested digital services to block Mr Wen's videos.

Response and Event Details

In clips spreading on the internet, Grande looked shocked when she was touched by the man. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed reassuring her while Mr Wen was removed by guards.

Grande has not issued a statement on the situation, and the remaining proceedings proceeded as normal.

Hundreds of attendees had congregated in a sea of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good regional debut in a Singapore venue, including a number who had stood in line for as long as eight hours before it started.

The musical itself is a spin-off of the 1900 book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.

Grande, who portrays the benevolent sorceress Glinda, was decked out in a light pink sequin dress at the premiere while Erivo, who acts as the Elphaba, wore a sleek black dress decorated with roses.

They were accompanied by co-star Jeff Goldblum.

The initial film, Wicked, was the top-earning movie of last year in the UK, and received 10 award recognitions, winning a pair for outstanding attire and set decoration.
